About Bjørn

Bjørn is a descendent of Norwegian and Swedish immigrants to Dakota lands and lives in the swamp-forests east of Mató Mde, known in English as White Bear Lake, in the city of Mahtomedi, MN. Bjørn is a poet, writer, woodworker, and scholar/practitioner of nonviolence and community transformation. His teaching and facilitation are grounded in transformative methodologies and he is recognized internationally for his calming and clarifying presence and thought partnership that affirms, challenges, and catalyzes action for change.

His new book, A Beautiful Amble, is a collection of poems derived from the wisdom and integrity of communities on six continents over 25 years of community accompaniment. It was published in 2024.

Bjørn currently works as Program Manager for Community Peace Building at Nonviolent Peaceforce. He holds an MA in Transformational Leadership from Seattle University and a PhD in Community Development from Arizona State University. His love of learning, through relationships and reading, is a source of energy and delight.
